November Member Spotlights
We are so proud of our athletes at CrossFit Foxcroft, Razorback, and DAC CrossFit for all of the hard work and determination they put in every day to become the healthiest possible versions of themselves. It is very exciting to see everyone get stronger, quicker, and develop their overall fitness. As our community grows, one part stays the same; we have a phenomenal group of athletes that are committed to not only improving themselves, but also to helping each other become better athletes (athletes in all aspects of life). We take great pleasure in the opportunity that we as coaches are given to work with so many like-minded, hardworking athletes to achieve their goals.
For the November installment of our Member Spotlight, we introduce another “Power Couple”, Liza and Michael Lundy. After Michael saw how much Liza enjoyed CrossFit after joining in January this year, he decided to join her in July. Michael and Liza bring great energy to class and come ready to put in hard work, every single workout!
Why did you decide to start CrossFit?
Michael: “I saw that CrossFit was a new change from my everyday traditional weight lifting program. And that I could workout with my wife is why I decided to start.”
Liza: “I needed a change in my workout routine. I felt discouraged and needed some motivation and discipline before I started.”
Were you following a different exercise routine prior to starting CrossFit?
Liza: “I did come to the gym regularly, but I wasn't following any specific routine.”
Michael: “I followed the typical old style of traditional weight lifting (two muscle groups a day) and a cardio routine. Boring!!!”
What were your thoughts after your first CrossFit workout?
Liza: “I thought it was challenging, but with the coaches' motivation, I saw how my body was performing better each time!”
Michael: “At first, I felt I still needed to go do traditional weight lifting, but I knew I was getting a really good workout.”
What do you like most about CrossFit?
Michael: “The coaches, the classmates, and the challenge to complete the workout in a good time or a good number of rounds.”
Liza: “Definitely the community aspect; it keeps you going, every day!”
What is your favorite exercise or workout?
Michael: “The clean and jerk is my favorite exercise; it works my whole body, from my upper body to my legs.”
Liza: “Kettlebell swings because I feel them everywhere! I feel all parts of my body working on them.”
What changes have you noticed since you began CrossFit?
Liza: “My performance has improved greatly. Now, I can do so many things I didn't even imagine I could do before. I feel a lot healthier and my body fat has lowered significantly, too.”
Michael: “My strength has improved significantly; I feel a lot stronger and I also have a notable decrease in my body fat.”
Do you feel like you have learned anything new about yourself or each other?
Both: “That we can do a lot more than what we initially think we can!”
How has CrossFit helped in your everyday life (work, family, etc.)?
Michael: “I feel stronger and more confident with my performance. My wife and I love talking about our workouts every day. I always look forward to the next day’s WOD.”
Liza: “I feel healthier and more confident. CrossFit is my stress relief. It's something fun I do while I help my body stay healthy. We’ve made a lot of friends that make the workout motivating!”
What advice would you give to someone new to CrossFit, or someone who is thinking about joining?
Liza: “It's not as intimidating as it seems. You can adjust the workout to your level of performance. CrossFit is definitely life changing.”
Michael: “It will make your deep core stronger and help your everyday movement. It’s a great workout for only an hour. You also make a LOT OF FRIENDS that help make the workout motivating. I love the whole crew at Razorback CrossFit!”
